This item was made by me in the US, based on historical Persian and Turkish examples

Turban ornaments, called aigrettes or #39;sorguc#39; in Turkish, appear all over miniature paintings from Central Asia and the Middle East, especially in the 16th c and we have a number of extant ones too. I was lucky enough to be able to see some in Istanbul and London that don#39;t show up in the books and it really helped me figure out some details on how they were put together.

They are perfect for a Safavid or Timurid Persian outfit or for Ottoman Turkish

They also work for European style felt hats (Renaissance, Pirate etc) and modern hats.

This one has yellow and black feathers and an ornament I made from polymer clay stenciled in gold with a Sacred Geometry motif that shows up in the architecture, book arts and other decorative arts of the Middle East and Central Asia.

The overall length is approximately 13 inches.

The whole thing is mounted on a wooden base. To wear it, just wrap your turban as usual and then slide the wooden stick-bit down between the folds either at the center or to one side.

A turban or hat is NOT included with the ornament but I do have turbans in multiple colors that can be purchased separately.

If you are wearing it with a hat, it just tucks into the hat band.

I make hats and garments based on my research on historical examples in the Mediterranean and Western Asia in the pre-modern period (pre-1600). I mostly make these items for historical reenactors and dancers. Please feel free to message me with questions including historical details and where I conduct my research.
