Death#39;s Head Hawk Moth Linocut Print - Monochrome

This original Death#39;s Head Hawk Moth linocut is hand-carved and hand-printed. They were each made in my studio with non-toxic, water based printing inks on kraft colored, acid-free, cotton fiber paper. The ink is pressed directly from the carved printing block onto the paper. The Rice Paper Butterfly linocut prints each part of a limited edition series of 8. Each print in this series is numbered and signed by me.

One summer, I worked as an assistant to a butterfly artist, who set and framed hundreds of real butterflies and moths for display. This series is inspired by the tiny creatures and the summer I spent learning their names and marveling at their patterns and colors. I#39;m including a small card with each print that includes information and fun facts about the species. This would make an excellent summertime gift for budding lepidopterists.

Please note that due to the nature of the hand printing process, there are slight variations between each print. It is a characteristic of linocut art and makes each one unique.

Paper size: 5in. x 7in.
Image size: 4in. x 6in.

The print you receive is unframed and will be placed into a protective plastic sleeve and mailed in an envelope with a sturdy cardboard backer.
